It lies off U.S Highway 24 just a few miles away from Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. This beautiful town started as a major stop for Colorado Midland Railway. Nearby manmade lake was created to supply ice to the railroad stop. As it was built by a man called George it was initially called George’s Lake. The name later changed to Lake George.
